We just rounded up the internships for the first half of 2014. We are very proud to announce that once again, one of the interns graduated with a 9. Here's the complete list and the story for each assignment:
Ruud Sloot, grade: 9
Ruud's assignment was to investigate and build a mobile application to connect with other visitors on events. No more business cards, that was the simple goal. Ruud developed a smart application, closely integrated with the event registration based on barcode scanning. Nice bonus functionality included the integration with social media for login and contact sharing. Ruud migrated to China to join his girlfriend.
Vincent de Jager, grade: 8
Vincent's project was about remote provisioning and management of eHealth brokers. An existing project based on Camel / Osgi needed a way to manage remote deployments to it's infrastructure. Special requirements were: Managed remotely, Firewall friendly (as one can imagine hospitals have strict security requirements), OSGi-compatible (provision bundles, Karaf features, etc), Robust. Vincent moves on to a subsequent study where he will specialize in the field of IT security.
Wouter van der Aa, grade: 7
Wouter was given perhaps the most challenging assignment we had this period: Develop a remote plugin architecture for More App. The goal was to make it possible to extend the More App platform with extra functionality without actually running the extensions on the More platform. This included a lot of API work and the definition and implementation of extension points. And what about security!? After his succesfull graduation Wouter picks up a subsequent study.
Erwin Heemsbergen, grade: 7
For a big data platform that gathers a lot of statistics from a factory floor, Erwin had to build a new version of a data collection configuration module. With this configuration module an expert user can define the data to be collected based on various events and parameters. Erwin did a nice job and is working with us throughout the summer. In september he will start his final year at the Hogeschool van Arnhem en Nijmegen (HAN).
