Recently, we got a performance benchmark assignment via one of our valued partners, a worldwide leader in IT research and advisory. One of their clients had very ambitious growth plans towards the year 2020, and was eager to know whether their main B2B trading platform would be able to handle their growth plans. The growth comes from both new business models and consolidation efforts of their trading platforms.
Having ambitious growth plans was one thing, translating this into expected volumes on the technology side is another thing. We first helped the business to understand the impact of their business goals towards the major key performance indicators in technical terms: number of transactions, number of bid orders, volume of the goods to be traded, seasonal impact, etcetera. Next to that, we helped the client to project the vision of 2020 over the coming years, in order to understand the yearly growth over time and the possible impact for the software infrastructure for the forthcoming years.
Based on the KPIs and the yearly projection, automated performance scripts were made by us which simulated the most significant user scenarios. In combination with the calculated peak performance the system was benchmarked and the results came in.
Thanks to the performance analysis, this worldwide leader in B2B trading has more confidence in the performance of the platform for the coming years with respect to performance / scalability, and has clear recommendations on how to further improve their main trading platform towards 2020 and keeping sure their platform remains at scale for years to come.
