Integration is often like a trade mission

Typical trade mission: minister of foreign affairs shakes hands with other minister of foreign affairs. People smile, take pictures, sign an intention agreement and off they go. Behind the scenes the hard work is done. People trade, sell and do the actual work.

Integration work in software development often looks like the pictures from the trade mission. A software engineer connects two systems and makes them shake hands. It looks like the hard work is done, but more than often, this is just the beginning.
