There is a question that came to us that has kept me awake for a few nights:
What is your employee retention policy?
I don't know. We don't have one, I think.
No matter how much you want to keep an employee and no matter how much you do to influence their decision to stay, ultimately, the employee is the one who decides to stay or go. And that's perfectly ok.
People want to use their talents and capabilities in a way that makes a difference. All we can do is be on the lookout for work that gives people that opportunity. Work to take responsibility for, work that brings value and results, work to be proud of.
