Recently, Avisi hosted their first DORA community event. Here you can read a quick summary of the talks.
The evening started off with Kevin Schomper (Avisi DORA Consultancy leader) discussing why Avisi has decided to invest their efforts into working the DORA way. Main points were focussed on the academical value and giving a basis for the statement “We are an exceptional software company”.
Manasa Kandula (Application modernisation, Google) then discussed how DORA came to be. What it’s statistical model is based on DORA | Research. How DORA then learns these valueable things, how teams can start with DORA right now, and finally what past successes have looked like in introducing DORA.
Jeroen Vis (techleader at Avisi) gave insight into the DORA journey one of Avisi’s teams has had. This culminated with a sparring session on if DORA-metrics should be measured actively (in the data driven management, visible management style); or if they should be used as a periodically measured basis. Jeroen also discussed the effects of having third party application reviewers and no longer using scrum sprints.
Finally, Frederik “Freddy” Grieshaber discussed a fictional customer and the effects of data driven improvements in a huge old school financial company. What the importance is of a well willing team and managers. Additionally, Freddy dove into the difficulties of data driven management in Germany and the legislation surrounding data and individuals.
